Capitol Lagoon

Capitol Lagoon is a provincial park located in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, in the Philippines. One of the features of the park is matching sculptures depicting a woman standing alongside a water buffalo and a man pulling another water buffalo. These sculptures are located at the northern and southern ends of the lagoon. These figures were executed by Italian sculptor Francesco Riccardo Monti who also did the sculptures of the Metropolitan Manila Theater and the University of the Philippines – Visayas Iloilo campus. Guillermo Tolentino also contributed as a sculptor of the figures.

San Sebastian Cathedral

Also known as Bacolod Cathedral, the San Sebastian Cathedral is the most famous religious and historical landmark in the province of Bacolod. This church is the second oldest church in Negros Occidental.

Bacolod Plaza

The Bacolod plaza is the heart of the MassKara Festival celebration. The MassKara Festival is a month-long celebration held each year in Bacolod every fourth sunday October. This the final destination of MassKara street dancing competition which is the highlight of the celebration.

Pope John Paul II Tower

The Pope John Paul II tower is dedicated to the late Pope John Paul II who visited the city of Bacolod on the 20th of February 1981. It was such a momentous and festive event for the people of Bacolod City at that time as they were blessed by his visit. This tower is a pilgrimage center that embodies and perpetuates the ideas, life, advocacies, commitment, and holiness of Pope John Paul II – an ardent Promoter of the culture of life and the culture of love. During sunny weather, the Islands of Iloilo and Guimaras can be seen on the 7th floor. You can enjoy the view of the windmills of Guimaras or watch the beautiful sunset during afternoon.

Bacolod City Government Center

This 3-story building was built in 2006 and completed on August 8, 2008 in a 5-hectare lot along the circumferential road in the eastern area of Bacolod.
After some series of changes from the past administrations, the name evolved from “New Government Center” or NGC, “People’s House” and then back to ”New Government Center” or NGC.
And now, it ain’t NEW anymore after 14 years, so under the NEW administration, we call it “Bacolod City Government Center” or BCGC! 🙂

San Diego Pro Cathedral

The San Diego Parish Church or now known as San Diego Pro Cathedral, is an early 20th-century church in Silay City, Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It was declared as a pro-cathedral in 1994, and the only pro-cathedral outside of the Capital of Manila. This church is unique in Negros for being the only church in the province featuring a cupola or dome. The ruins of the older church can be found at the back of the church that was built in 1841.

Balay Negrense

The Victor Fernandez Gaston Ancestral House also known as Balay Negrense, is the first museum in Negros Occidental, showcasing the lifestyle of a late 19th-century Negrense sugar baron.

Note: This is currently under renovation, you can take photos outside. We will replace it with Hofilena Ancestral House or Negros Museum.

Cinco De Noviembre marker

Cinco De Noviembre marker or the Farmacia Locsin was owned by Don Leonardo de la Rama Locsin that served as a secret collection booth for the donations used for the revolution of Negros. Instead of donor’s name and the amount donated, he recorded it as the name of the medicine and the grams meant the amount of money donated. Negrenses showed their skills by tricking the Spaniards while establishing a functioning government on a street corner.

Campuestohan Highland Resort

Take a dip in the cold swimming pool or simply relax and unwind to the panoramic scenery and breathtaking beauty that Campuestohan offers.

The Ruins

Famously known as the “Taj Majal” of Negros, this is the ancestral mansion of the sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson built on a 440-hectare sugar plantation in Talisay, City Negros Occidental in the early 1900s in memory of his Portuguese wife Maria Braga Lacson, who died during the birth of their 11th child. During WWII, Filipino guerillas burned it down to prevent the invading of the Japanese forces and be used as a military office.
